Just had an incredible encounter while exploring the marine life near Ramkin Island, Lebanon! Spotted this master of disguise perfectly camouflaged against the seabed.
I believe this is likely a type of goby or perhaps even a lizardfish, blending seamlessly with its rocky and sandy surroundings. Their ability to disappear into the environment is just amazing!
Ramkin Island, part of the Palm Islands Nature Reserve, is truly a treasure trove of biodiversity. Every dive and snorkel reveals something new and fascinating. It’s a vital habitat for so many species, and moments like these remind us how important it is to protect these precious marine ecosystems.
Has anyone else encountered this type of fish in Lebanese waters? Let me know your thoughts on the ID!
