Mohamed Rahhal is a Lebanese artisan and fisherman from Bourj al-Barajneh, combining the craft of making traditional fishing tools with the art of going out to sea in search of livelihood. He inherited this passion from his ancestors and developed it over time, remaining faithful to the old school of fishing and committed to artisanal methods that respect nature and preserve marine balance.
In his community, he is regarded as a symbol of both authenticity and renewal, passing on his knowledge to younger generations and embodying the values of honest handcraft closely tied to the sea. Despite the challenges facing traditional crafts and Lebanon’s fishing sector, Mohamed remains a living witness to the bond between the Lebanese and the sea, and to the role of craftsmanship in safeguarding identity, passion, and heritage.
